"Alice came to my studio this morning. I had just returned from my job in Malonne. She looked at a photo of my second self-portrait with Asako in 1974 : • do you like it ? • a lot ! it’s realistic ! the effect is striking ! who is the girl in front of you with a Sort Shag cut, almost like a boy ? • it’s Asako, the first girl who posed for me in Takasago in 1973. I really wanted to but I didn’t dare to represent her completely naked in 1974. She wasn’t ready to undress in front of me. I did another one later, me with her, but naked this time, and snuggled in my arms” (Wednesday, December 14, 1979). In this digital work, I wanted to capture the deep intimacy between two souls, with a touching realism and an expressive figuration. Every detail emphasizes softness, tenderness and protection.
